Well we made it to Firenze unscathed even with the best attempts of a petrol tanker trying an overtake maneuver like he was in VW Golf.
After enduring a cramped and odorous cab ride in a Seat (the other choice was a Fiat Multipla) we got to our wonderful apartment around the corner from the Uffizi and a stones throw or two from the Duomo. Inner city living at it's best.
Grace is thrilled to bits as she has a gelateria right across the street as she has had gelati withdrawals in San Romano similar to my lack of connectivity.
Once we dropped all the bags and settled in our apartment we headed of for a late lunch at a pizzeria around the corner.
Suitably fueled we traipsed round this beautiful city and headed to the leather market. Florentine leather is world famous and even I was happy to wander around whilst the girls eyed jackets, handbags and purses. The smell is incredible and the raggazze incredible. Italian women are also world renowned and it's easy to see why - stunning and stylish.
We also picked up another beautiful Florentine Christmas baubles. Our tree will be a tapestry of Italian decorations and highlighted with the Coreglian nativity scene.
We then wandered back up to the Ponte Vecchio where we ate gelati and window shopped until we shopped inside the window. We all got some jewelry mementos of Firenze. I got an 18 karat gold Fiore Di Firenze on an 18 karat gold chain which will be handed down through the generations. Tarn got a Florentine heart pendant, Grace a mask pendant, and Charlotte a Ponte Vecchio pendant. It was a bit of a splurge but what special memories they will bring for a lifetime.
We then went to Coin which is like the Italian Myer as Tarn went looking for Zhu Zhu Puppies. She failed. She then decided she was going to a toy shop a kilometre away so Grace, Charlotte & I came back home as walking another k looking for some toy was too much to bear.
On the way back to the apartment we came across a street clown whom made Grace jump behind me in fright. He made balloon animals for the girls with a little comedy skit mixed in. Grace was all of sudden less scared and Charlotte was unmoved by all the fuss.
Tarn came back with two of these Zoozoo things and 2 bags of Macca's for dinner - been an artery blocker today. As I have stated earlier Macca's over here is even more repulsive than home and the fact I have had it twice here astounds me. Although the iced tea option was a pleasant surprise.
Well now we are suitably refreshed by a third straight rubbish meal the energy levels are up to a point to get us to our bedrooms for a hopefully good nights sleep. We have traded the isolated Tuscan farmhouse for an apartment smack bang in the middle if town 100 meters from the Piazza del Republica so we will discover how good double glazing is tonight.
Buona notte.
