I have developed what I have been told is a very annoying breakfast habit. Every morning I have half a waffle and put back the other half with the full cups of mix. I just don't want to waste it! Gold keeps telling me it will annoy other people. So this morning, the inevitable happens. The gentleman behind me used the rest of my mix to make what he thought would be a whole waffle. As hard as I tried to mention it to him, I couldn't. As he opens the waffle machine the waitress and her supervisor just happen to be with him. After the puney crisp waffle pops out, they apologise profusely and the supervisor promptly gives the waitress a good talking to about her bad waffle mix distribution. When telling the next waitress, the secret was out! Obviously an observant employee, she nods her head at me as I blush and says, 'she only has half a waffle every morning'. I left with my head slightly down, ever so embarrassed...
So, today we went out on a flat hunt. We really need to find somewhere to live so headed to the area of English Bay and through the Westend. Just around midday a downpour hit and we just so happened to be outside the Boathouse Pub. We both had great food and if anyone visits defo one to go to. Fresh fish and great views. We have now learnt our lesson with their portion sizes and we just can't manage a starter and main.
After lunch, the sun had come out and we headed back out. As we approached Stanley Park we came across a large dog staring into a tree. He seemed very excited and as he started to bark I became intrigued as to what he was looking at? Nosey as I am, I waited for him and his owner to walk away and glanced through the branches. To my delight lay two Racoon! Who obviously got on... I think they were even in love. I found out what noise they make too! We left the Racoons to it and walked up past some more flats. Low and behold another pair of Racoons! What are the chances?! (two chirpy locals kindly informed me that apparently there very common). After the mammals, we headed down to where the locals had said some Herons were nesting. We certainly weren't the biggest bird watchers there and after a couple of snaps we went to try and find a nest of our own.
Not an overly successful day. There is no help here looking for somewhere to live. You just have to strole the streets and see which blocks have available rooms. Hardly anyone was in and they are all for a yr fixed. We had nearly given up when we found a fully furnished one bed close to where we really want to be. Manager Betty was great (she obviously took no prisoners as denoted by her bandaged wrist), showed us around two flats. Both equal in garish furnishings one slightly higher up so more expensive. They were 'something else', but the only possibility at the moment.
