We've climbed the crater, didn't find he geocache, but climbing the crater is probably achievement enough. Glad we did it early in he morning on a cool day, as we are pretty sweaty and I would hate to think how sweaty we would have been if we had done his yesterday. The views from the op are good, you look down over Waikiki and up and down the coast. You can also see Maui I think though the haze on the sea. We needed to stop a couple of times on the way up as there are se very steep sections involving stairs and the like. There were definitely a couple of women who didn't look like they were going to make it all the way I the top, and then there were the people who were using it as a training run .... Nutters. To get to the car park for the crater, you actually drive through a tunnel that has been cut In the side and park on the crater floor. It's been extinct for 140,000 years so no danger of the car suddenly erupting in a pool of lava. It's cool sitting here now looking at the crater in the distance and knowing that I have stood on top of it.
