Touchdown in Toronto. Weather was awesome. I make the most of the early start by a family skype session easing the mild homesickness a bit. Feeling the need to explore we get the low down of what to do in town, from the hostel reception. We set out full of motivation. This motivation wears thin pretty quickly as do the energy levels (suffering post red eye flight sleep deprivation) looking for a suitable place to chill out and restore our energy levels. We stumble upon the man made beach on the Waterfront and sit down for another one of our quick pit stops, waking up some what 'sun kissed' about 2 hours later! (Our short tan lines were quite a sight to behold)
Wandering very slowly and in directly back to the hostel we make ourselves at home for the night meeting our somewhat interesting roomie!
Having seen Toronto Island from the waterfront the day before we decided that we would make a trip over. We head to the clothing optional beach as there were less people in the queue for the ferry (and a lot less whinging children) This trip to the beach was definitely an education in it self! We had made plans to go watch the Blue Jays play baseball against the Boston Red Sox that evening and thought we would head to the CN tower before the game started at the very precise time of 7.07 pm. On form as usual we leave late (we have mastered the art of getting ready in sub 30 mins)
The CN tower is pretty cool. Making the most of silly photo ops at the top and obviously taking in Toronto from above. Looking forward to the game we head down and go to find our seats. Neither Blinky or I knew much about baseball. Fortunately there was a Canadian guy behind us who gave commentary making the event make a bit more sense. It was by our commentators admission a fairly boring game until the final inning but the Blue Jays still lost. Today was a good day in Toronto. Tomorrow was set to be just as good with our trip to see Niagara Falls. This was one of the big things I wanted to do on the trip and it certainly didn't disappoint. We head out on the Hornblower with our ultra stylish ponchos on. The boat reaches the horseshoe part and we get drenched. It was an amazing but a fairly intimidating experience but one I am so glad I can say I have done. Next stop was the idyllic town of Niagara on the Lake and then on to taste some delicious ice wine! All in all Toronto had treated us well.
