So Spain came and went...and it was probably the first flight that I´ve gotten this whole time where theres been no complications or worries about oversize luggage etc. I got there though and wow did I have another problem. I thought that the airport was relatively close to the city, but it turns out that the airport was over 1.5 hours away from Barcelona and I arrived at 10.30pm and there was no bus or nothing!! I had to wait there hoping that one would come as it was supposed to, but it didnt come until 12.30 and here i was outside in the cold luckily with another girl from Barcelona, who thought that the bus was gonna come! If not, a taxi to Barcelona costed 300 euros!!!! I arrived then at a random train station at 2am, not even near where I was supposed to be going. Then the girl who I met helped me find a bus near to where I was going...and I got there about 2.30am...and walked down the street on my own towards my hostel. To be honest I knew it was sooo dumb as I have been told that Barcelona is known for pickpockets etc more than any other country in the world!! I arrived at the hostel at 3am but then I didnt know what doorbell to ring in the building!! I rang like 5, and had 2 ppl answer, the wrong ppl of course, and one yelled at me to stop ringing the bell! I was nearly crying coz my cellphone only works in France and I couldnt get the payphone to work! But after about 30 mins someone answered, but the hostel manager had gone to bed because I had previously said I was arriving approx 11.30.
After all that hassle though, Barcelona was great! The first day I didnt do that much as I didnt get to bed until nearly 5am, but in the afternoon I had a good wander around Las Ramblas, went to a couple of nice cafes, and looked at lots of shops. Barcelona has the best fashion taste I´'ve seen anywhere in the world! Its so my style!! I was good though and didnt buy stuff, one coz i couldnt afford it, and two, i only had 10kg luggage space. I so wanted this pink dress, but lucky it couldnt fit me lol.
I had the most unbelievable sore feet though from walking in Venice and Paris so much and I had massive blisters on my feet, so bad that I had to go to the chemist and try to explain my problem. Its crazy coz even in Barcelona, half the ppl there speak Catalan, and some no Spanish!! I've never ever had such sore feet in my life though...i felt like i could not walk literally any more. Everyone in my hostel went out together afterwards but i was so sore that i just stayed back and did nothing.
The next day I had a full on day of sigtseeing though. I still had sore as feet so I did a bus tour where there were 2 different routes and you could do both with the same ticket and each had approx 17 stops so i didnt have to walk too far, as barcelona is big!!
Barcelona was great to visit...however i thought it would be warm...wow was i wrong. I wore my jandals one day coz my feet hurt so much from the day before and i had ppl asking me if i was ok coz my feet must be so cold! they were, but not too bad!
I got to see the sagrada familia though, the big famous building that gaudi built, and went to one of his parks and to his former house now transformed into a museum. There was lots to see in Barcelona and I spent the out and about, but luckily with this bus tour thing I got to see all the major things in one day. I went to get subway at night too and that was funny. The menu was completely in catalan! The lady was talking to me in catalan too, but mostly understood my spanish luckily.
The next morning I had to go, and return back to paris...and i caught the metro back to the train station where I oringinally came from to catch the bus back to the airport. I was freaking out though coz the bus was supposed to leave at 10.45 and it still wasnt there then, and i had been waiting since 10am so i knew i hadnt missed it! Eventually it came though, and after asking a whole bunch of ppl when the bus was coming, i was relieved to get back to the airport. All smooth sailing from there.
However, when I got back into Paris, the place where the rest of my stuff was stored at was supposed to close at 6pm and I needed heaps more before going to Germany for 3 weeks in the morning. I begged the ppl to stay open and they did, and i arrived at 6.30. They were getting impatient, but i was running even to get there from the metro! I got there though, had like 2 mins to get my stuff, got a big bag full, but then forgot my stuff that i took to barcelona which included all my toiletries, my computer, camera, straightener and lotsa warm clothes i wanted!!! I was like noooo! But i knew that in the morning there was absolutely not enough time to go back and get it, so i had to leave it behind. Luckily at the last moment though i pulled my passport out of my bag i left behind and put it in my handbag...otherwise i wouldve had quite a problem!!!
I ended up getting a crap room in the hostel i was in too which was pretty lame, but luckily it was only for a night. However I had to sleep in my clothes coz i left my pjs in the other bag, and I had to dry myself with a shirt after my shower coz i also had my towel in the other bag. And even worse, it was -5 when i had to go to an outside shower to use it, and the water wasnt even hot...and then it started snowing!!! it was awful!!!
In the morning I woke up and it was snowing like crazy too!!! It was like a storm of snow and everything was white! Trying to walk down the street was crazy, i had snow all over me in like 30 seconds! I was told to leave an hour to get back to the airport (the one in Paris), so I left 2 hours to be sure. However because there was so much snow, the train was going supppper slow!!! Then when i had 15 mins to check in my stuff in i was still on the train and freaking out about the time. I got off the train at a station where it looked like there were ppl and ran in the snow with a giant backpack nearly slipping over to get to a taxi. I got to the only taxi and noone was in it!!! About 2 or 3 mins later someone came luckily. I asked the man to drive as fast as he could, but then he was only going at 20kmph coz of the snow on the motorway!!! It was even slower than the train!! and there was a crash and traffic on the motorway to make it even worse!! I arrived at the airport at 10.20am and the plane was supposed to leave at 10.20!!! I was like oh no...im gonna spend Christmas alone!!
Luckily the flight was delayed due to sooo much snow....but check in had closed obviously so they were telling me id missed my flight and they couldnt check it in!!! Then after talking to about 5 different ppl they said i could take my massive bag as hand luggage, but i knew it wasnt possibe as my bag was massive and weighed way more than hand luggage limits! Finally someone figured out a way to check my stuff in, and then after that it was fine, but what a stress!!! I arrived to Germany 3 hours late and my friend had to wait all that time in the airport, and to make it worse, it was her bday!!! woops!!
But I finally arrived and was great to get to Germany and to see my friend after not seeing her for over 3 years since when i was last in Mexico!!
