So next stop was Paris....the city of pure amazingness!!
I arrived there on Monday night...took about 2.5 hours to get to my hostel but that was fine. I spent the first 2 days doing boring things, trying to search for jobs and accommodation etc, but then I had my orienatation with the programme Im doing the work France thing through and they said not to bother yet, as im not properly back in France till the 4th January.
I underestimated how difficult it would be to do a CV in French. I just got my one in english and was gonna translate it literally, was 3 pages, but was told to condense it to one. I did that and still all the format was wrong, so spent a good few hours yesterday with this lady helping me fix it up and my general cover letter too. I went to open a bank account too but the first time I went to the bank they wouldnt do it as I have no proof of permanent address. Then I went to go back yesterday with a letter I got written for me, but it was going on dark and i decided to get off the following metro station so I didnt have to walk as far, and got so lost. I gave up coz the bank would close, but wasnt worried. Once i figured out where I was a had a good stroll all over Paris.
I went to Notre Dame where theyve got pretty Christmas trees set up and they had a lights display all over the face on the cathedral...so pretty!!! Then onto the Louvre, and where there was a big carousel thing like the london eye, then all down the Champs Elysees. The 2km or so stretch was transformed into Christmas markets with cute stalls and trees snow sprayed and pretty lights everywhere...and hot wine etc for sale along with the crepes, waffles and all other sweet things.
I didnt go into the Louis Vuitton store, I looked like a hoary tourist so just walked by, and some of the other designer stores too, but was cool to look, then end up at the Arc de Triomphe.
Ive met a few people so far, some randoms in the bar where my hostel is, and some of the hostel ppl were nice too, and I met an australian girl yesterday whos just moved to Paris like me too (oh yeah, I decided that if possible im gonna try work/live in Paris rather than the Alps or anywhere else). Some of the guys ive met are funny too...theyre so full of themselves!! One thismorning just came up to me and said "excuse me, do you think im beautiful? Im beautiful no?" and was busy checking himself out. Then some other guys i really didnt know offered to take me to where i had to get the airport bus thismorning (but sensibly i got the taxi instead). Then yesterday, this guy just comes up to me, rambles off a whole bunch of stuff, writes his no on my hand and says so ill see you here tonight!! He was a smoker though and i was majorly put off, so shame but i didnt meet up with him after all.
Going down by the Eiffel tower again though reminded me of how much I LOVE PARIS!!!!! It was so pretty and had the flashing lights thing on the hour and music, and even though it rained and got real cold, it was still so pretty! And was funny to watch the police chase the ppl away who harrass you selling their souveinirs.
I was feeling a lil shaky with the french when i arrived too, especially with having to look for a job, but ive even been asked for directions from locals a few times now, and been commented on how good my french was, and when i wasnt gonna put fluent in my CV, all the ppl in the office i was doing it in were like no, no...youre fluent dont worry! So it was nice to hear!
Its definitely getting colder too...I especially noticed it thismorning when I put my luggage in storage as i could only take 10kg on my ryan air flight to italy, but hopefully it will be ok and ill get used to it!!!
Next stop Milan!!
