Happy Independence Day! It feels funny being somewhere where nobody cares about it, haha.
Today Yvonne, Tristan (a new intern from Kenya), Margo (I can't remember if I mentioned her before but she is another volunteer who had just arrived from The Netherlands and is staying in the volunteer house), and I went to the school to treat children for jiggers. It went very well and some teachers even helped us! After that Margo and I switched with Tristan and Yvonne to sit in the back of the truck. I liked it much better! You can see more.
The truck dropped us off somewhere and we took bota botas (motorcycles) again up to the house to check on the children who were badly affected by jiggers. Their feet were somewhat better but still pretty bad. This time their mother was there and she started washing clothes and cleaning up around the house to prevent jiggers. I put poison around the house to kill the jiggers and I could see them all over flying because they didn't like it. It went well and we were on our way home. I rode with Margo and we were laughing a lot on the way home! She said her family at home wouldn't believe she was on one and so I took a picture of us going down the main road, haha...I'll post it!
We returned home and I had a nice talk with Margo. She is a counselor or coach of other counselors and teachers and has some really interesting views and ways of interacting with people, so it has been very nice to speak with her at home.
