Hey everyone , so this will probably be my last blog as ill soon be back home!!
Since my last blog i've had a world wind of amazing adventures! I feel so comfortable walking through Kasapin village !The locals are so welcoming and it feels like my second home. When i walk through the village its wicked taking all the surroundings in as there's always something going on! One week we went on trip to a mountain and barefoot for 2 hours i climbed through cravisis and walked through walterfalls, finally reaching the top view was the most beauiful
thing ive ever seen , we could see miles and miles.. it was incredible. Kumasi was also a memorable trip, its the 2nd largest city in Ghana. Its crazy, people everywhere, and everything is so colourful and vibrant especially the market stalls which sell cloth.
When we first arrived we noticed that the children in Kasapin have nothing fun to do so we decided to build them a playground. We got the piece of land after many discussions with the chief to find it coverd in trees and weeds sky high. 6 weeks on there are swings, bins, hopscotchs and benches the difference from then to now is amazing , im so proud what we've achived as group. Our supervisers.. mumma silvia and knox said '' were are one of the best groups.'' It meens so much becasuse were the 9th group and weve left something that will always be used and utilised by the children of Kasapin .
Also construction is going really well , were up at 5am finishing at 5pm with a lunch break in the middle .We've built all the walls and concreted floors
of the junior high school , we're now onto moulding bricks as we're entering the rainy season which also meens its malaria centrle.I had malaria another two times which meen ive had it 3 times now , i set the new record for Kasapin.
Malaria is the number one killer within Ghana and with medical treatment can be cured within only 1 week but if left death is envitable .Its scary because the reason why people can not be cured is due to money , some people simply
can't afford treatment and the governments plans to help cure malaria can some struggle to filter down to grass root levels.
Last weekend we were invited to a funeral for one of the men who run the guesthouse we stay in .. Richard Osei past away due to of a stroke at 34. The funeral was a celebration of his life and his achievements!
It begins on Friday where everyone wears red and black and dances into the early morning . Then on the Saturday all family and friends gather on the main streets playing drums, singing and lots more dancing then the coffin is carried along the streets to the cementary where he is lay to rest. On Sunday we all gatherd at Danak school to support the family and show support.
people traveld miles to show there respects and celebrate his life .The cheif also made an appearance. The family all wear white gowns , they look strong and extremely proud in the way they carry themselves.
The 9th weeks is coming to an end and the home stretch is in sight. The best word to describe to newly improved Molly is productive. I feel excited to make a difference in my life and to put changes into place so that in 5 years time i can look back an be truely proud of what i have achieved .Something ive learnt in the time ive been here is that ...
...life is for living and only ourselves hold the key to unlock our full potentiall.
love Molly xx
