10 hours by bus will get you from Siem Reap all the way to Sihanouk Ville via Phnom Penn - it's a rather nice little beach town in a large Cove (probably visible on world maps) in Western Cambodia, which has unfortunately been "discovered" by the tourism industry a year or so ago, so it's got a lot of bars orientated towards Westerners, but it's still really peaceful. It's possibly a nicer place to stay than Siem Reap, friendlier people and more to do. One gets the feeling Siem Reap is feeding off Angkor Wat a little too much for its own good. But anyway, we made the trip down here yesterday and today has been fun. After finding a place to stay we got our Vietnamese visas ready for Sunday and went for a massage by a company employing blind Cambodian masseurs (giving disabled people a chance to earn some cash). This is not soothing muscle-rubbing. I thought the guy was gonna break my legs at one point! We'll see how Nil and I feel tomorrow though. Anyway we're okay and looking forward to a day on the beach tomorrow. Much love to mum and dad - photos A.S.A.P. (promise!). TY

Hey, it's my turn to ramble! We made the 10 hours bus journey to Sihanoukville without a hitch, got off the bus around 7pm (it was pitch black - because we're so close to the equator the sun rises at 6 and sets pretty much the same time in the evening) and were pounced on by a surprising amount of tuk-tuk drivers all offering to take us where we wanted to go. So we chose one guy, who said he knew where the guesthouse was that we were aiming for, only he stopped about 15 minutes on the journey to say the place had closed down and that he'd take us to somewhere else! We've been discovering this to be a bit of a tuk-tuk driver thing, they want to take you to certain guesthouses because they get a commision. Seriously frustrating, especially as he could have told us this before we left the bus station. It turns out though that my guide book is out of date, Serendipity beach (that's where we're staying) has completely changed over the past year. We're finding our way around very happily though, and the people here are so lovely. Today, for instance, after our amazing but back breaking massage, we went into this book store/ book rental cafe to get a drink, ended up staying ages reading books and chatting to the lovely proprieter of the place. She gave us loads of tips about the place and about Vietnam. Talking about lovely people, the night before we left for here we met this British couple who were staying in our guesthouse and were the coolest couple I've ever met (hope you guys made it back to Thailand safely!!!!), they bought us beer and we had a great time talking punk music! Anyway, lots of love to everyone back home. Photos will be up soon, promise. xxxxx
