we have stayed on the island of Phi Phi for four days now, longer than we planned, because it is so lovely here. Only a couple of hours' boat ride from Phuket, we arrived here and immediately knew we wanted to stay a bit longer. There are two main beaches that are back to back - the rest of the island is almost uninhabited. We asked for a cheap hotel for the first night and found ourselves in a hut looking out onto the beach, backed by a huge mountain covered in greenery. It was not very comfortable and bloody BOILING hot, but the novelty of living in a beach hut was worth it. Oh, and there was a hammock at the front of the hut, which pleased Clout tremendously. We had a look round some of the shops and markets, had dinner by the beach and settled down to sleep in our little hut.
One night in a hut later, we woke up dripping with sweat, covered in mosquito bites and decided to go find another hotel. We found ourselves in a little village on stilts, comprised of small bungalows. However, there was a SWIMMING POOL! And the bungalows were very nice inside, with a FLUSH ON THE TOILETS! So, with these unexpected luxuries in mind, we checked in for three nights. In our last few days on Phi Phi we have had a lovely time. We went for a boat ride, where we went to see 'The Beach' beach, and other caves and islands. We snorkelled at Shark Point and didn't see a shark. We saw a giant sea turtle, and lots of hermit crabs. We walked all the way around Bamboo Island and I saw a huge lizard (maybe Iguana??) We have had tremendous thunder storms, with forked lightening and thunder bolts going on for hours. We took a Kayak to Monkey Bay, where a monkey tried to attack Clout several times, two monkeys kept on humping each other and two other monkeys wouldn't get off our kayak so we could go! I had a manicure and pedicure (nice!) and Clout bought two watches for next to nothing. We've really enjoyed it, and we're off for our final dinner tonight before we head to Railay Beach tomorrow!
