Kho Samui = not very nice.
We had a day-long journey to get here and I was quite excited about getting to a place I'd heard of so much. But when we finally arrived and found an inn to stay in (not a very nice one, cockroach central and the smelliest room we ever did find), we dumped our bags and made our way to the main strip in Kho Samui. It was very touristy, full of beggars and street touters, and very smelly everywhere. We knew straight away that we didn't fancy staying for too long here!
It rained almost constantly during our time in Kho Samui. We saw some tourist hitting his girlfriend along the street in the early hours of the morning, and some EXTREMELY young Londoners being pounced on by Thai women. There were good markets along the main road, and street sellers that carry around animals, snakes, eagles, monkeys and big reptiles. They throw them onto your shoulders as you walk along then try to get you to pay for a photo of the animals. I fell in love with a monkey that one was carrying, so unfortunately we had to pay a bit to get a photo (with OUR camera!!!).
The beach seemed ok and had some nice restaurants, there were planes taking off and landing right next to the beach, oh and a bird pooped all over Clout's back... highlight of the visit!!
After our first full day there we decided that a different country beckoned, and booked a journey for the next day to...... MALAYSIA!!!
