Another amazing day in the land down under!! Am still feeling a bit wiped from the tournament so decided that perhaps today would be a could day to ride the ferries and explore. I headed down to the harbour and found a ferry to Manly. The ferry ride out was extremely smokey (lots of fires burning in Australia right now) and there was not much to be seen. A couple of very busy days complete! My broomball team won the Gold at the Pacific Rim Broomball Championships!! The final game was exciting, a hard played game by both teams with a final score of 3-0. I did not get any points the whole tournament, I do not normally play with this team as I am not quite the same calibre as they are but I feel like I contributed to all the wins and played hard! So basically the last few days have consisted of broomball! We have played 5 games.....won 4 and tied one. We are in 1st place at this point. We have one more game this afternoon and then tomorrow are the finals! There are 4 other teams playing in the tournament.....Queensland, New South Wales, Australia Capital Territory(Canberra) and South Australia. Had a great sleep until 5am....then could not get back to sleep! It would appear 5am is my new wake up time!! Early rise means an early start on the road. Had breakfast at the hostel, there are floor to ceiling windows in the eating area....a big beautiful parrot slammed right into the window.....fell to the ground.....then just as fast took off! I awoke this morning before the 38 university students did and had a nice quiet breakfast....cut to 1/2 hr later and the place was chaos....I packed up and hit the road by 8am! I figured this was far to early for my 90km drive to my next hostel.....cut to 9 hrs later and I arrived at my hostel in Apollo Bay! What a horrible yet beautifully glorious day!!
