Marty's Adventures
Am sitting on a bench across the street from my hostel on the shore of Lake Wakitapu surrounded my snow capped mountains as a write this blog tonight. I am now 3 more hours ahead and feel like I am in a different world once again! I was up early this morning and off to the airport, my sleep in my big comfy bed was amazing and for once could of slept past 5, however, I had to be up at the airport for 630....I arrived at the airport to find out that my flight was delayed...plenty of time for breakfast and a coffee! Flight over felt very quick....Virgin Australia has an app for iPads etc for the inflight entertainment. So you watch over wifi on your device. On a complete side note of travel, I watched a documentary called Call me Kuchu which is about the lives of LGBT people and activists in Uganda and the murder of David Kato who was one of the leaders in fighting for rights. It made appreciate even more the love, support and acceptance I have from my family to be who I am and the rights that I have in Canada. We are fighting for the right to marry and adopt when there are people in this world who are fighting for the right to just be alive and be who they are. People who do not feel safe in their homes for being who they are....was just a reminder to me how blessed I am! Landing in Queenstown.....imagine if you could...flying into Banff....Lake Louise and Vancouver all at once! Amazing mountains.....beautiful lake...and you zip in over the mountains feeling like you will clip the top of one!! Yikes!! Was amazing! The town reminds me of Banff and or Jasper...I checked into my hostel, I have my own little room with a share bath. I walked around town for a bit, got some groceries and had me a Ferg Burger! World famous most amazing burgers....need not order fries or any sides s the burger was the size of my head!! Ok not quite but close! I went for a beautiful walk along the lake...had a shower with the most amazing view I have ever showered with....and am not sitting on the bench across the street from the hostel. There are droves of young ones in high heels and short skirts passing by giggling as they head into the town centre on a Saturday night! Apparently the club scene is wild around here.....I think I will pass. I am up at 5am to go on a tour of Milford Sound tomorrow.....that is 2am Australia time! Oh joy! Goodnight from the beautiful Queenstown!
