Marty's Adventures
Today was a day off from Broomball. We decided to head to Lake Shikotsu. It was a bit of a chilly day and there were snow flakes at the lake. Lake Shikotsu is the second deepest lake in Japan. There was a small area with shops and a visitors center that we wandered around. We were looking for hot springs and the man at the visitors center sent us to the Marukoma Onsen. WOW so amazing. We sat in the outdoor natural hot springs on the side of this beautiful lake surrounded by mountains with snow flakes floating down. It was magical! We also enjoyed the indoor ones that were a bit hotter. I had a sit down shower which I love and they have the best product for washing. It is always an adventure when trying things out as most of the time we have no idea. Face cream on hands hand cream in faces etc. Then onsens always have everything you need, brushes, creams etc. We all got dressed in our Jimbeis and headed back to town. Along the way we stopped on the beach and took some team pics! Fun fun fun! We made our way back to town and went to the mall. Found a few souvenirs and decided I am not fashion forward enough for clothes shopping in Japan! A few of us wandered down the street to Noodle alley as we have named it. It is a strip of about 12 little booth type places that sit about 6 or 7 people around a table with the cook in behind the table. No english! We ended up having tasters of a bunch of different things including fish and pork and intestine amongst other things. I did not fill my belly so we then found another restaurant and we had the most amazing noodle goodness with tempura shrimp and the best broth ever! Late night, hope that means I will sleep past 5am! Gold medal game tomorrow!!
