Still in Barcelona and having a great time! On Saturday Mik and I headed out to Figueres, north of Barcelona, to meet her Catalan friend Jordi who we had been with the other night. We went to the Dali museum there, which was suitably eccentric, but great! It was then on to Jordi's sisters place in Girona, where after a great lunch we explored around the beautiful old town there. It was then through to their small home village to have a great dinner and go out for a drink.
Back in Barcelona on Sunday, we had a traditional Catalan lunch, organised for the exchange group Mik is in. Was a really delicious and fun time. We had calcots, a leek type vegetable you eat messily with your hands. After this we headed into the city to meet up with Rachel and her friend, Monique, who is visiting to take in the interior of the Sagrada Familia. Very intense!
The past few days we have just been doing more wandering and have taken in a few more sites, including the nice Parc de la Ciutedella, where there is a grand fountain designed by Gaudi early in his career and the Picasso Museum. Here there was a fascinating exhibition of the infulence Dega had on Picasso. We leave tomorrow, but there is still so much to do in this great city!
