Day 8:
Today we got a chance to explore Toronto a bit more-thankfully it was a lot warmer today (by which I mean it was a mild -12 degrees Celsius). We wandered through the streets a bit and checked out Toronto's flat iron building (cool, but nowhere near as impressive as New York's), the markets, the harbour backing onto one of the great lakes and the streets of Toronto. We saw the QN tower but decided to be tightass tourists and not go up. Other than a little chilly, the waterside was really pleasant - there was an art festival on displaying beautiful photographic art works of Canada's greenbelt, and there's an Ice skating rink infront of the water that's overshadowed by the QN tower.
We continued to explore the streets of Toronto after dinner and stumbled upon a beautiful park draped in Christmas lights and overlooked by a large old church, which resulted in some amateur (but at least partially successful) night time photography.
Toronto itself reminds me a bit of Melbourne in terms of its organisation, layout and tram system, but it's definitely a relief to be in a smaller city after spending 6 days in NYC. Its a relief to have your own little stretch of footpath with yourself and not have to contend with 50 other people at an intersection to cross the road in the direction you want!
