I've recently contracted a freelance photography job, in which I photography venues (bars, osterie, night spots, day spots, cafe's etc). Now, I knew this would be an interesting job, especially as it's in Venice where addresses and streetnames are all relative. Sometimes they care to place the bar where they say it'll be, and other times.... Regardless, it's a lot of fun.
Yesterday, I walked for 8 hours straight hunting out the day and afternoon places. Everyone was very nice, some a little more easy going than others. I had to play reverse psychologist with one location that suspected I'd make them pay somewhere down the line for this so called "free" advertisement. As I said to the owner: it's totally free and positive publicity; they wouldn't have sent me to photograph you if they didn't already like you. He eventually let me in to photograph his Osteria and proceeded to then tell me how beautiful I was. Haha..typical Italians. I thanked him and slipped my earphones on as I searched out the next bar. Part of the fun in this is that I get to practice my Italian. Most places were very obliging (some even offering food and wine) and a few even let me in to photograph during off hours so as to get a good picture of the space. I will have to go back for an overnight soon to get the neccessary night shots.
Today I have class in Verona and a few errands to run around San Bonifacio.
