Well hello,
So i guess you are probably itching to find out what happens next our epic journey. Well i'm afraid to say not that much really.
So we left Pha Ngan on the saturday and headed for koh Tao, thailand's diving mecca pretty much. This places issues the second largest amount of PADI certificates in the world after cairns. what a nice piece of trivia for you all.
So incase you don't remember we had just been with Marcus and his mates in Hat Rin. Well they decided to come along with us to Koh Tao about five minutes before we left so anyway ty and i had already bought our ferry tickets. we went the cheapo option at 300 B ($12) while the others bought the more expensive ones for the other ferry at 400B ($16). Let's just say that we should learn not to be so bloody cheap! Our ferry was soooo crappy, firstly it left 45 minutes late, second, it was choppy that day and where you sit is below the water level which meant we couldn't see anything and felt rotten for the whole 2 hours it took for us to get there (half an hour more than advertised). Marcus and co. left later than us and arrived about an hour before us and where already next to their pool by the time we turned up. Good start.
So anyway we found an ok place to stay, well kinda ok, we couldn't use the shower because every time you turned the water on it smelt as if someone had...well we just didn't use the shower ok.
What we did use in Koh Tao was Choppers, a lovely aussie bar that was showing the ashes on big screen and had a four hour long happy hour. So that was fun. Many english, many aussies.
We also found cabaret...ladyboy cabaret.
So it's kinda a long story that began with pad thai and ended with a swell rendition of brittany spear's TOXIC, many high kicks and 'are those real do you think?'
So that was Sairee Beach.
After Marcus left, Ty and I headed to Ao Tanote. 'Snorkelling for the very lazy'
It is the most amazing looking bay. (see photos)
So any way we found a hut to stay in-most shocking bed so far-and we went diving with our $7 masks. As soon as you step into the water from the beach hundreds of zebra fish swarm around you, this is in knee deep water, very cool.
We swam around for hours. The whole bay is covered in coral and big drops. it was full of fish.
It's very hard to explain, but it was really good.
The accommodation was not so. DO NOT EVER STAY AT AO TANOTE FAMILY RESORT!
They stuffed up everything, and not just for us, for everyone staying there. We only stayed there two nights, no amount of lovely fish and coral would keep us there. An example, As we were waiting for our taxi to leave, a German family of 5 showed up claiming they had a booking. The strange folk who run the Ao Tanote Family Resort had no recollection of this booking and were full up.
We didn't bother to find another place so what did we do?
we decided to head to Bangkok.
