Byron Bay So we arrived in Byron Bay… the boys decided to get the bus, me Kelly and Leila caught a flight for $2 more…!! Makes perfect sense to me…!!So we get to our first hostel called the Cape Byron YHA… The rest of the mob turned up just an hour or so before us so they already had the place ready and waiting when we got there…! Chris and the Dragon were there too… there were now 9 of us….!! Nearly enough people to take over the place…! The hostel was a really nice place. We spent 2 days there.Day one was all about spending the day by the pool…. I hadn’t had a swimming pool for months… no where in Sydney or Melbourne had them…. now we’ve headed up the coast a little everywhere has them…. top move…!!We decided to go out for a Mexican for the first night…. Never again….! The food was naff, we sat in there an hour and 45 minutes waiting for the food…. couldn’t really drink because they wanted $8 a beer, where 20 metres up the road it was $7 for a jug….!! Do the maths…!!Second day we all went for a dive… Me and Steve went off whilst the other guys had an intro to diving day and then dived with us at the end of their training…! Wasn’t the best dive ever, but got to see some marine life I’ve never seen before… Wollongong sharks, a ray bigger than your car, some lobsters, angel fish and then finally I got a very close encounter with a lovely bluebottle Jellyfish… so close in fact that the b***** stung me…! That wasn’t very nice at all…! Three stings across the hand and one on the face… I wasn’t impressed…!We found a renowned bar up the road called Cheeky Monkeys… this is where we were to spend every night we had in Byron Bay…! Cheap drink, $5 dollar meals and chicks dancing on tables…. what more could we want…!!Day three and it was time to check into our new hostel up the road…. Byron Bay YHA… again a really nice hostel.We all managed to get a dorm to ourselves so it was really nice. There was just one other guy in there which at the start wasn’t too bad…. Only when things started to go missing did we start to become a little dubious about him… first off Leila’s money, then Steve’s clothes, then Kelly’s purse and finally my money….! Just what you all need when you’re travelling on a budget…!! Ended up having to go to the police station and reporting the matter so the insurance would pay me back….! Nightmare…. Any way things could have been a lot worse…. so onwards and upwards…!So other than that… Byron Bay was a case of chilling out to the max, hitting the beach, visiting the light house, partying on down in Cheeky Monkey’s and having fun….! Surfers paradise is the next stop… it all gets a little hectic from here apparently…..!!!
