Steve's US Adventure!
After a tough 5am-5pm day on the Club Chivas scene teaching the hispanic populations, the time came to meet my new family. From the moment the 6ft 7inch dad crawled out the front seat, stated they had 9 cats, I was paired with an absolutely nuts coach and lost the toss for the double bed, my dreams of the OC were rapidly dwindling!
This week I was allocated the unbelievably cute 8 year old girls in the morning so it was a nice change from the 10 year old boys in the 1st week... however, every day on camp has a theme (e.g. UK day, wacky wednesday...) and when it came to thurs (dress your coach day, u can see from the photos these little angels had a field day on Coach Steve!
On monday, tuesday and wednesday we flew along the Pacific Coast Highway down to Huntington and Newport beach, watched them preparing for next week's international surfing competition, made sandcastles and played some serious danger zone, aviator sponsored top gun soccer volleyball!
Thurs we hit Liam's pool, had a diving competition, butterfly raced and soaked up the rays before heading to downtown Disney to check out the firework display!
After being made camp captain for saturday's Club Chivas event and organise 240 kids, coaches and equipment in the US's hottest day at 108 degrees, we drove to Hamosa beach, met up with the rest of the coaches, booked a 10 man hotel room and checked out the nightlife to celebrate Paul's birthday and my degree!
