Wowzer... 12.5hrs later why can't Australia float closer to everything else? Imagine what it would do for the economy? I should drop that suggestion into Clive Palmer and see if he can arrange his Titanic 2 to tug us across and up the pacific a bit?
So we arrived early which was nice, 6:10am in fact but sadly the custom guys don't start work until 6:30 so we got to sit on the plane for 20 mins getting hot and stuffy. Finally we were let out probably one of the first international flights to arrive for the morning as we were all first in line at customs.
So i have had a not so great experience with USA customs in the past and wasn't looking forward to this encouter. As it turns out it was stress free, didn't need to show my ESTA, my officer was happy with my working holiday in Canada and wished me luck! all through in less than 5mins!
Then off to pickup suitcase, which i keep preparing myself for it to have left with someone else.... i also contemplated doing an airport dance, but it turns out that after you have not slept and are carrying 7kg of backpack a laptop and a handbag packed to the brim you are not really mobile enough to be dancing around an airport.... so maybe next time guys when i've got less to carry!!
Then a pleasant 2hrs sitting around LAX which thankfully has free wi-fi so i was able to keep my self entertained.
The final challenge was getting past American Air hostest with my now combined backpack and hand bag weighing maybe 8-9kgs and my laptop bag. I just had to try and play it cool... look like the stuff i was carrying didn't weigh anything at all..... welll we made it... no questions asked... although i did nearly miss the flight because i was looking at the gate next door which was strangly empty.... :)
