Started the morning in Queenstown under clearing skies. Went to the top of the mountain overlooking the town in a gondola. Amazing views, watched some people paragliding but it was obviously too early for the bungy jumpers. Took a ski lift higher and returned to the middle layer on a luge ride, quite a good experience. Then down to the bottom again, leaving at about 11am to drive up the west coast. Travelled through Wanaka past lakes that were amazingly blue, another example where the photos won't do justice to the experience. Intended to stay at Haast tonight but the place was full of sand flies so moved on. Very little in the way of civilisation so we battled on. Arrived here at Fox Glacier where we have parked up, near a bar, surprised? Along drive today, well over 300 km but at least we can now accurately plan the rest of our week or so in South Island. Watching the first test as I write this. NZ are 120/0. What happened to England. Playing for a draw now I suppose!
