My goodness! There is actually a PNG newspaper that looks a bit like the Burton Daily Mail! Even today's headlines "Clear signal on sorcery killings" could equally apply to incidents in Uxbridge Street.
Read all about it at www.thenational.pg/021309/lead_editorial.php
Click on "letters" - has Alison already waded in with a press conference attacking Dr Joseph Pagelio, PNG's Education Secretary?

Hi Mike & Alison
Glad to hear you arrived OK. Looks idyllic - hope your permanent residence doesn't come as too much of a shock! The children all have lovely smiley faces don't they? Hope the training is going OK and you are not suffering too much in the heat and humidity.
We have just got back from Cornwall moving Faye in. She has a wonderful view over the Gannel estuary - we didn't want to come home! The journey back was a bit of a nightmare as we drove through a blizzard on the M25 and the lorry drivers, especially the foreign ones, drove like lunatics! Today thankfully most of the snow has gone! Think we'll have a quiet night in tonight - maybe have a takeaway from the Pipasha!
We will check on your place tonight but all was OK last time we checked just before we went to Cornwall (Monday). Have posted your letter to "Smile".
Catch up with you again soon. Love Sue & Bob xx

If anyone wants to know the local time in PNG copy and paste the following link:http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=193
It also gives the local weather forecast (currently: hot and humid!)
The CIA website lists some interesting facts about PNG on this link:
For example, did you know PNG has 226 billion cubic metres of natural gas reserves, with annual consumption of 140 million cubic metres? Amazing what these agents research for a living!

Philip has just shown me all your photos - it looks beautiful! Don't get too settled - you won't want to come home! We are now enjoying a Singha sundowner after another day in another Paradise. Cloudless, sunny skies every day since January! Did Tom fix you up with the software to download East Enders? I am now able to keep up with all that's happening with Dot, Ian and Nikki et al. It's just like being at home only warmer.
Take care,
Pop
PS Don't forget Feb 14 is Valentine's Day! Do they have roses in PNG? I have sent out 10-12 E-cards, each one addressed "To my favourite (insert nationality/town) lady from your ardent admirer at the Centre of the Universe"

Good to hear from on Skype! Seems like you are having a whale (or should that be dolphin?) of a time! Be sure to check the fire escapes at each place you visit and ask to see the log entries for all fire drills... The Elf and Safety will be proud of you and it will help to demonstrate you have a handle on all the key issues!
