What an experience! Enjoying reading of your adventures. Looking forward to hearing more of your ' fashion tips' when you return; though not sure if trainers, socks and skirts or headresses will catch on in sunny Essex; but you never know. Take care. Angela

Hi Alison,
What an amazing adventure!! Makes life in Pitsea seem like a walk in the park! No time to communicate further, now - have a JAR visit tomorrow!
Take care,

Hi Mike & Alison,
Great to see all the pics and read your interesting ventures, not something I could put myself through as I like my home comforts too much. It makes me realise how lucky I am, yeh no cockroaches and always running water.
Anyway take care, don't let the bedbugs bite!!

Good to read how things are going although you spooked the system here - the power went down!!! But we do have a new generator that has taken 10 years to install! Obviously needed a woman to get things moving!
Laughed when I saw on your BLOG that you'd had difficulties downloading the photos as we struggled yesterday as we keep forgetting your words of wisdom but hey ho we did it!
Take care

Hi Mike and Alison...
WOW! it look as if you are having an absolutely amazing time! I feel very jealous... though I am sure it is hard at times... Looking at the lovely school pics and brilliant students in their school environment really makes you think how lucky we are with what we have here in school, I won't moan again when the printer is out of ink and the interactive whiteboard crashes!!!
It really takes me back to seeing schools in Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos... they were very similar... Have a fantastic time...

It's a fascinating blog Al, and guess it's a case of new issues confronting you both every day.. Be careful you don't become swamped by them.
I always felt humbled by kind people when I worked in places like Nigeria, Angola and some of the North African countries albeit only for weeks at a time, but in societies where the average age is still 45 and you are old if you make it to 50 it really makes you think about the different worlds we live in, that constitute this global village and what is of real value.
But we know you two are up to surviving the year, even without a can opener so only another 44 curries or so and we may see you back here talking about your great adventures and the characters you have met and all the new friends you have made.
Lots of love to you both and email your POB if you need the emergency shoebox full of goodies, and indulgences, ready willing and able to send it. Sadly the Indian and Chinese takeaways both say they won't deliver that far outside the Leigh area.
Stay safe and lice free Big kisses and hugs, but only in a macho manly way for Mike from me….
Bob and Sue..
PS let me know when you are really bored and I'll send you some Vogon poetry, or even worse some of my own… J
PPS.. Sue says Mike is still wearing his pencil behind his ear, but shouldn't it be through his nose by now…

Hi, wonderful to keep up with your travels, I am following with great interest, yet i do feel really guilty when i read about the lack of provisions etc. it makes you stop and think just how others manage and how we take the little pleasures in life for granted!
how lucky we are! - take care - dianne x

we've just been out for a meal (not a calvary, ian made a fuss) , Ian drunk lots of bottles of wine, now we're back at jeans for coffee and reading your blog, thinking about you in the jungle. Over dinner we tried to convince Clive to give Sarah more money. Grandads having a sleep but his trip across from France was okay as usual. Nannys reading comics from the Mail. Yesterday, Paul drove nan and grandad to the party which went okay, (golden boy paul). Clive went to Moorfields yesterday to have another look at his eye. Ians been his normal critical self but he thought the resteraunt was a good choice. Richard went back to uni this morning. We're still waiting to see Rob in his uniform. Thinking about you, but not envying you with the lack of water and basic comforts Hope you're good.
