Warm and overcast to start, then about 11:00 it rained, lots. The captain told us that we had been the only one of six ships scheduled to stop at Rarotonga, over the last few days, that had actually made it.
Sorted out yesterday's photos on the laptop. Then had lunch with Ray and Jane. I thought I'd give Battle of the Sexes another chance. It was still as bad. It was spitting with rain when I started quoits and it was a little heavier when I lost in the second round. Just after I went down for tea with Barbara and Mavis, the heavens opened again.
I've bored you with the food and drink on board. What about entertainment? The ship's daily magazine is called Horizon and lists all the activities. These are slightly curtailed on port days.
There are usually one or two talks a day, today it's Lee Konowe (spy stuff), Sue Stockdale (expedition to Antarctica) and Steve Brookes (gardening). The speakers change every so often.
Lots of quizzes every day, today there's a silent trivia (fill in the sheet and put in a box), Battle of the Sexes, Progressive, Individual, Pub Quiz, Around the World and Syndicate.
Sportswise, today I can offer you Walk a Mile, social tennis, stretch and relax, Pilates, table tennis, deck quoits, shuffleboard (last three am & pm), Boot Camp, Yoga, cricket and golf. Plus the pools and gym of course.
Classes are dance, Spanish, art, party dance, line dancing and bridge. There are solo traveller, Welsh and Jewish Sabbath get togethers.
You want music? Caravan (the ship's resident band) at lunch time, 6:00 and 9:30, Lyn Fredrick (only on once tonight, but usually more often), poperoke, black tie ball and late night disco.
In the theatre its Rebecca Nelson (it's usually a guest artiste or Headliners, the ship's company). In Carmen's, it's the Dana Morgan trio. Gravity is tonight's film in the Playhouse.
So that's a flavour of today's stuff.
This evening the Future Cruise desk organised a Peninsular Club party. I lost in Individual Quiz tie-break, we failed miserably in the Around the World quiz and as we were -1 in Syndicate Quiz, lost out on the tie break in that one. Found out that tenders and lifeboats are different, I'll have to see if I can spot the difference tomorrow.
Clocks back another hour tonight to GMT -11.
