We arrived to a cloudy but warm Papeete. After breakfast Barbara and I strolled round the Lido Deck to get our mile in before disembarkation. I got off the ship about 9.00, but my tour wasn't due to start for another half an hour. In the event, my driver was 5 minutes late and I was the only passenger. We were 15 minutes into our journey, when Richard took a phone call to return to the docks to pick up 4 more passengers and then on to the office for 2 more. We never saw the the dock people at all, but by the time everyone was on board, we were over an hour late.
We drove right round Tahiti Nui, the larger portion of the island (it's like a lopsided figure of eight on its side). It was quite built up, but not as bad as Bali. We visited Pointe Venus, the blowhole (the wind blew up my shorts leg!), a botanical gardens, waterfalls, a grotto and Marae de Arahurahu, which is a temple.
After I got back into Papeete, I managed to find an expensive but fast Internet place to post all my blogs since Nawiliwili and whip off my emails, then I was able to get a few postcards before being one of the last to board. I was extremely hot and sticky. The weather had hit 30 and the sun shone.
Sailaway was a hoedown, which I'm still pondering on. Won a bottle of wine in the Masquerade Challenge, which was excellent tonight, it was like school. We were even given balloons to play with, in break time! We scored 16 in the Syndicate Quiz, but we were handicapped by -1, as we were last nights winners. All in all, a good day.
