Another beautiful and hot day. We arrived a few minutes late and the sail in was past some interesting coastline. I saw the pilot's boat arrive.
My day was a little disappointing, despite our late arrival, we disembarked at about the right time for my tour. We had to wait a couple of minutes for the late arrival of a pair of people, then, when we reached the dock gates, we had to wait for about another 15 minutes as our driver was hauled off to the police station. Apparently, he was a Pakistani and not Omani. Odd, as they'd allowed him access in the first place.
We then drove for about half an hour to the Grand Mosque. We arrived at 11:05, it closed to visitors at 11:00. We weren't happy. Then it was another half an hour drive to the Muttrah Souk. This was the shuttle bus drop off point! It was interesting enough, but if I'm honest, just another souk. After that we drove to the Bait al Zubair Museum for a brief visit and then on to the Sultan's Palace for a look at the outside. He only uses it on ceremonial occasions. Then it was back to the ship. At the dock gate, our driver got out and another one got in, to drive us the 200 yards to the ship!
After dinner, there was a letter in my stateroom from the Excursions Department giving me a 30% refund, so I'm happy with that. Tomorrow is our last day of this sector.
