Happy 20th wedding anniversary to us!
Today we experienced all the different faces that Dubai has to offer. Took the Big Bus Tour around the city. Saw the vast array of shopping Malls that seem to breed in Dubai. You would need months to see them all.
Then on the other side of the coin we visited the souks (markets) down by the Dubai Creek. Bought some lovely pashminas after being chased down the alleys! I discovered I am seriously bad at haggling as I am way too nice! Philip just rolling his eyes at me..
Then took a trip in an abra across the river to the spice & gold souks. An abra is basically a small wooden raft with a roof and a motor....scarey!
Highlight of the day came when we got lost in the middle of the old town in the midday heat. Much cursing later found our way to the bus and got home. Both my little toes have blisters the size of grapes!
Also have come to the conclusion that Dubaites cannot drive.....at all!
And secondly if you ate in the cloth souks and get drapped in head scarves you don't want, just keep walking. They will come get them off you!
Lastly finished off our anniversary cruising the Dubai Creek on the Bateaux Dubai. A glassed in boat set up so romantically. Low light, live but discreet music, the most amazing food!
Perfect day...from the oldest to the newest, the richest to the poorest. Only on Dubai....
