Hi all i have free internet again that actually works so making the most of it.
The last time i left ya we were heading for our homestay which was our last stop in Laos. Well the homestay really wasnt anything to write home about we were all disappointed really. It took us 7hrs we stoped a few times and one stop was at a market were they sell things like insects for your dinner. We also saw a poor little dog in a bag that someone had brought for their dinner. I was almost sick and wanted to let him go.
I thought we would get to meet some of the families and see how they live at the homestay but we just spent about an hour with some children then had some dinner and went to bed.
Anyway the next morning we were up at 5am and said good bye to beautiful laos and headed for the Vietnam boarder and on to our first stop Ning bing.We had a 14hr bus drive so arrived late. We had a group dinner at our hotel then headed to bed.
The next morning we had a short drive to Ha Long bay. We boarded our boat which we were staying on for the night and sailed for a few hours till we got to some caves. Ha Long bay was amazing and really beauiful and would have been so much better if the sun was out which you will see from my pics.
Food on board was mainly sea food so as there was 3 of us fussy girls who didnt like sea food the cooks had to make us something else.
The next morning we were hoping for some sunshine to get some last good pics but no such look just more mist. We sailed back to the harbour by 9am and headed to Hanoi city. There is only one word to describe Hanoi MENTAL! I wasnt a big fan of this city at all far to busy and dirty and the weather wasnt to good either. We had 3 days here which was to long i thought. We spent our first evening watching a water puppet show which well lets put it this way was the longest hour of my life. It wasnt good and one of the guys from our group saw a rat in there but didnt tell us till we left. The next 2 days me sally and adel just walked around the city and hit some shops. I tried to get some new shoes but i just got laughed at when i told them my size. Which suprised me as everone here is tiny but they all must have big feet. I did manage to get some flip flops from the kids section. The taxis here are a nightmare too me sally and edel got one, one evening and he tried to make us pay 60 usd which is about 40 pounds for a 5min journey and locked the doors on us when we wouldnt pay it. A little scary but we managed to live another day.On our last day we caught the over night train to Hue and was happy to be leaving. The train was not the best and made the train we got in Thailand look like the orient express.
Hue seemed really nice but we only had 1 night here so didnt get time to explor much. We departed the train at 830am and was at our hotel 10 mins later. We had some breakfast then headed out on a motor bike city tour . I wasnt really looking forward to this as im not a fan of motor bikes but it actually was good fun. The sun even came out a little which was good. Today was also st patricks day so as edel is from ireland we hit the pubs on the night and got a little drunk.lol
The next day we had a short bus ride to Hoi an. We stoped on the way at a beach for about 30mins just outside danang and finally the sun is out and its 35degs Hoi an was amazing i loved this place i so could live here. Its got everytihng a girl could want sun sand and the best tailors. We had 3 nights here and we didnt want to leave. I spent most of my time either in the tailor shops or on the beach. I was only going to get a few things made but when i saw the finished items i went abit crazy and ended up with 2 suits 2 fab long evening dresses, 2 tops 2 skirts 2 summer day dresses 2 pairs of linen trousers and 2 pairs of shoes. All for 300 pounds which i think is a bargin. Its so good to actually have clothes that fit. Thre was no way i could get it all in my back pack so i had to send it to lee and emma in oz which cost me 35 pounds.
Im now in Ho chi Minh city. We got here yesterday afternoon and spent a few hours around the pool before heading out for our city tour on a cyclo which is a funny looking bike.Today we when to the cu chi tunnels which was really interesting and got the chance to go down a tunnel which we vietnam people used in the war. However i got in there and paniced as they are really small and had to get back out.
Right well im off out for dinner shortly so i will love ya and leave ya. We head to cambodia tomorrow which im looking forward to. Will post some pics of vietnam soon.
Love Michelle xx
