Hi all me again.
So ive left Vietnam now and crossed the boarder to Cambodia. Our guide Sams home country.
Our first stop was Phnom Penh. We arrived late afternoon and the sun was still out so a few of us girls headed to a fancy 5 star hotel to use the pool. On the evening we all head out for a gruop dinner at a local restaurant thats supports the orphans of Phnom Penh. They are so many kids here on the streets they are like slaves made to work long hours selling books etc it early hours of the morning.
After dinner Edel and I headed to a bar and 3 bottles of wine latter staggered home.
The next morning we had free so Edel and I get a tuk tuk to the grand palace. Its so hot today 39deg and we cant wear shorts in the palace have to have long troousers on the cover your shouders. We only last an hour looking around as we are starting to melt. We then head to the russian market which basically sells anything and everything. I get some DVD's cost about 80p each just hope they all work and are in english. I also have to buy another day bag as ive been buying to much stuff.
In the afternoon we all meet back at the hotel for our tour to the S21 prison and the Killing fields. These places are just so sad. S21 was basically were Pol Pot the leader of Cambodia in the 70's tortured and killed 14,499 men women and children. Only 7 people left here alive. 2 of these are still alive today.
Its so mad to think this all happened in most of our life time and i didnt know anything about it till now. The otehr mad thing is that no other country steped in to help or stop what was going on till it was all to late. I cant believe other countries didnt know what was happening at this time i dont think its really something you can hind.
After our very sad afternoon we had tea at our guides house. I had prob the best chiken curry ive ever eaten. The food was amazing except for the desert. Deep fried Tarantula. Everyone tried some but i couldnt even have the plate any where near me. I had spiders so much even if they are dead.
The next more we say good bye to Phnom Penh and have a 7 hr journey to Siem Reap for 3nights. I really liked this place. We arrived at 3pm and Edel Sally and I head straight to the pool for some sunbathing. If you havent already guessed we are all sun worshipers. There is a massage room next to the pool so i treat myself to a combodian fully body oil massage. Not as good as a thai one but still good. Tonight we have another group dinner and after Sam takes us to the night bazzar. This is not good i end up buying more stuff. Ive been looking for a really nice buddah for ages and ive finally found one so i get it along with a few other things.
The next day it bloody raining. Actually this is prob a good thing as we have a whol;e day of walking around the temples and i think if it was 40deg again i would die.
The temples are amazing. Our guide takes us past the main enterance were there is hundreds of tourists and we head to a temple on the other side were there is hardley anyone so we manage to get some good pics. In the afternoon we have a short lunch stop before hitting the temples again.
Tonight we have a free evening i was going to have an early night as we have to leave our hotel at 5am to watch the sunrise tomorrow but that goes out the window when sally edel and i end up in the Angkor What? bar. We get to bed at 3.30 and have 1hrs sleep.
At 5am we leave and head to Angkor Wat temple to watch the sunrise. Today is a clear sky so its a good sunrise. We also stop someone a little famous, Chris Tarrent. After the sun has come up we then go for a tour around the temple. We spend 2 hrs here before heading to our last temple where they filmed Tomb raider. Its been a very long morning made worse by the fact ive only had an hours sleep. We get back to the hotel by mid day and me and edel head to the pool to sleep and get some more sun.
Tonight we all eat together as its our last night we are all together. Afew people are leaving here tomorrow and doing their own things so not coming back to Bangkok with us.
After dinner we all head to the Angkor what?bar and its another last night.
The next morning we say good bye to a few people and the rest of us head back to Bangkok. Just a short hourney 12hrs.
We have abit of a nightmare at the boarder as our tour leaders Thai visa has run out so he cant get back in to the coutry and ends up having to leave us and go back to camdodia. Luckily we have a bus and another guide waiting for us on the thai side. So we have to say our good byes to Sam here and head back to bangkok without him.
By the time we arrive in Bangkok its 7pm and a we are all knackered we eat in the hotel which ends up being one of the worse meals of our trip and then me and edel head to ko san road for our last Thai massage.
The next morning i say good bye to Edel she is flying back to Ireland today and leaving me.
I spend the morning down ko san road and end up getting a couple of dresses. After luch i head back to the hotel and get ready for my transfers. Tonight i leave Asia and fly to Sydney.
