Woke up early!!!! Wahoo!! Well, before 9... That's early for us!! Said bye to jay who then had to go all the way home in last nights clothes :/ Got straight up and out on the tuk tuk! It took like 15mins from our guesthouse to get to the ticket office, it's $20 for a day pass!
She told me to look straight into the camera in front of me, I did and asked what it was for she said its used to put your photo on your ticket! I was like darl, let me redo my hair can I have another go? I look so rough!! :/ and she was gonna let me too but now everyone was staring at me as annie was laughing... Maybe later then!
Then from there the tuk tuk took us to the first temple, Angkor Wat! About another 15minutes away... It's huge!!! It takes 10 minutes just to drive along one side of the moat that surrounds it!!! The tuk tuk waited opposite, we walked over the bridge, (it's almost as long as the Humber!) and to the temple...
It's a shame that it's so busy I thought it was low season? I dread to see it busier I hate people walking in my photos, I tried to make it look as if we were there alone ;) didn't really work!
As soon as we walked down to the temple we saw two wild monkeys!!! Eating cashew nuts I think... Just sat casually in the middle of the pathway :) They are so cute, If I'd have had my rabies injection prior to coming, I would have taken one home!
We spent over two hours in the first temple there was so much to walk around! And then decided we were boiling and hungry! So we went to a restaurant opposite for lunch, I don't think it had a name it was really more of a stall but with lots more seats and a roof! My tummy was too upset from last night to have any Khmer food so I asked for a salad sandwich with lettuce and cucumber no onions and no tomatoes, I got just onions and tomatoes no lettuce no cucumber... Vom! The waitress was so cute though I couldn't tell her she got it the wrong way round....
We then couldn't find our tuk tuk, he'd vanished there were about 10 of them scattered around and we walked up to all of them for a closer look until we found him, asleep on a hammock rigged inside the tuk tuk in the shade! Hard life!
The next temple was 10 minutes, Angkor thom, bayon. A slight let down after seeing the epic world wonder that is Angkor Wat, but still beautiful! The road to this one was swarming with monkeys of all sizes and shapes!! The baby ones are so tiny!!! This temple Is the one with all the faces in the walls... It's cool! This is where we got our Americas next top model on in all the photos! Ha!
We spent another hour or so climbing up and down the hundreds of rocks, until the next temple, Ta Keo! This one had even more stairs! Even steeper! Even higher! Less stable! :I
Some of them are literally rocks piled on top of each other and as the temples are damaged and part crumbling away... Great! Just plummet to my death! The view from this one though was beaut! But we didn't get many photos as I think Annie was almost ready to pass out, she is a diva after all ;)
On the ride to the next place, we were sat in the tuk tuk pulling up, when another driver turned to me and said, you want tuk tuk? Really! Do I look as if I need a ride! The next temple was the one I've been wanting to see... Ta Prohm! Where Tomb Raider was shot! Annie pranced around thinking she was Angelina Jolie waving a gun around and everything! Me? I'm more respectful than that! ;)
This temple was the most interesting as all of the wildlife and trees have grown in and around all the walls! And this is the most damaged too as there was a fire here which knocked down parts of the temples! There's workers constructing it all back together though but I think it's gonna take a while to put all the pieces back where they belong, it's part of a long standing charity that fund it.
In the centre where it is most ruined from the fire, a man started walking alongside us telling us where to go, I hate it when they stick around and want a tip! But I'd already said at the door I didn't want a guide so let him get in with it! And he showed us where Angelina actually slept whilst filming the movie, I touched the walls that she had touched and i'm never washing my hands again.... Lol, jokes! Pass me the hand sanitizer!
Now around 4 we left for the last temple of the day... Banteay Kdei! It was long and laborious as they all are, up and down steps every second knackers you out + a hangover = can't be bothered anymore! We walked the end literally just so we could say we've done it! And then straight back to the tuk tuk, followed by a group of children selling us any kind of rubbish, 10postcards, or 6 flutes, or a Rolph Harris sounding contraption... All for $1!!!
It was now 5pm, 6pm sunset is supposed to look amazing but we were far too tired now and it started to drizzle a bit too so we headed back home... It took over 40 minutes to get back, we nearly broke down as something in the engine was making a pretty unhealthy sound :/ at least we made it!
When we got back we got ready to go out straight away, hungry.com! The receptionist even laughed at our photos from the temples! She's as crazy as us deep down ;)
We went to pub street and ate in easy speaking again! The pasta is amazing!!! Cockroaches do roam the floors there tho :/ so you have to have your feet up! We went to miss wongs for a drink with the boys I had a mango daiquiri! Beaut! Then we did the usual temple bar for a few hours until we got bored and went across the road to Angkor What? It's packed in there and so sweaty as everyone dances to the music and runs there awful sweaty bodies all over you, it's gross! So we had a jug in there and then left for hip hop club, and partied there until closing at 5:00 :D we still weren't done yet... We then ended up at tuk tuk bar, it's literally a tuk tuk with booze!! And good music!! Such a random night! We then went for food in a stall somewhere on the way home and ended up sneaking jay and cherry back into our room!!! Again! Because we're real grown up like that!
