Hi,
Since my last update, I have realized that the sunny days are fading away in Vancouver. Therefore, I decided to get the most of them. On September 16 we went to the beach again for another (and maybe the last) beautiful sunset. In the following days I attended yet another football game at the Thunderbird Stadium, which unfortunately was the day when all the UBC teams decided to start losing. Also, I finally went by the UBC Botanical Gardens between two rain showers. Then, Jonas and I went to see our first ice hockey game at UBC, when the men's team played SAIT. The game was very intense, but the outcome was the same as the football game (another loss).
Last weekend it was time for the annual Day of the Longboat at UBC. It is a big event held at Jericho Beach close to campus and attracted a lot of people. The idea is to gather a team of 10 people and - if you want to - find a theme and dress up. Then you enter a race against seven other boats and try to get round the course the fastest. My friends had a team so I was there to cheer for them on Saturday. This resulted in them progressing to the next race, and we all had to show up again on Sunday. This did not matter, however, since the weather was exceptionally nice. After their final race we all spent the afternoon at the beach relaxing, throwing a Frisbee and "reading". That weekend, I also took the opportunity to see a bit more of downtown. I went to the Vancouver Lookout near the harbor and had a great view of the larger Vancouver area.
Now the autumn has definitely come stay for good and the days seems to get wetter and greyer. However, I recently had my blinds fixed in my room (only took them a month…), so if it gets too depressing I can shut the World out. And then I have decided to go to Montreal on October 16 to meet with Alexandra from France and a friend from CBS on exchange there at the moment. And not least, I have decided to follow the sun to Honolulu, Hawaii in November along with four other exchange students. This has also meant testing the limits of my bank account, but I will not be back here anytime soon, so I guess I will go for it anyway =)
Over and out,
Michael
