We were surprised how big Brighton is and how busy,we wandered down to the beach through charming old city centre narrow streets .
On the beach it is very touristy with the famously known Brighton Pier and many fish and chip stores. Janet's mum was born here.
On to Hastings for part two of 1066 history this was disappointing so we moved on.
Rye is charming small street lots of old buildings we are staying in a Tudor era hotel the 'Mermaid Inn', it feels old with potential of ghosts. Rye has a long history of fishing and smuggling. Great beach.
We're historied out and they have one of the best golf courses in England (no. 20), Rye Golf Club. You may apply to play on their course and they did agree to let us play Sunday pm. We decided to lunch there but needed jacket and tie which they had to lend MB. Tough links course easier for girls JB won. We had a very nice dinner at a new indian fusion cuisine restraunt .
Next day swim and off to Battle. What surprised us is how close every town is even London only about an hour.
JB and MB.
