27th Feb
Well after a long agonising flight from Christchurch to Bali (Deposer) with a little stop over at Sydney airport (8 hours) we finally made it in one piece!
After all the hassle at the airport with the payment of visas we finally made it out and into a taxi, we were so tired and I guess easily prayed upon with being ripped off by a greedy taxi driver.
Bali just like Denmark, not bicycles but mopeds, we even saw a family of four on one bike alone now that's crazy, We eventually realised this was not uncommon!! Road rules hmmm is there such a thing here??
In our room and what a view the whole beach and pool side was lit up with lights, we were definitely not disappointed with our room and location!!
28th feb
Up nice and early New Zealand time! We started with a nice early buffet breakfast over looking the pool but one thing wrong it was pissing down with rain hmmm.
We decieded to take the free shuttle into Kutaat 11am by that time it had cleared and had became very muggy, on our way in we saw how unclean this place was rubbish everywhere it's a shame to see a place with so much potential being wasted.
Straight out of the taxi and the haggling began " sir sir Australia?? We have 5 dollar billabong shirts come come"!!
We eventually found out that the hagglers were not native Balinese but actually java Muslims same people that were involved with the bali bombing a few yrs back.
After the bombings tourism has never been the same with a lot of the locals losing jobs. We have never been in a place were locals are so friendly and helpful!! They treat u like king and queen and will do anything for nothing.
We made it into the local shopping centre to buy our selves a new camera, this one is water proof and shock proof so now in sure this blog will come along a lot faster again. We even found julies favourite bag shop "guchi" yes that's how it was spelt!
Kuta narrr nothing to rave home about, just a run down drinking town for party goers.
After sweating our arses off we made it back in time for happy hour at the pool bar yum 12kr cocktails J
29th feb
We woke to a beautiful sunrise, best one I have seen in a long time Julie was snoring her head off so she only got to see the pictures J. We decieded to have a relaxing day by the pool.
We hired out some jet skis for 30 minutes at 350 kr for two people, mine was so un balanced that I fell in twice, they looked so good in the water but what pieces of s***!
Its such a hard life lying next to this pool J.
We decieded to have a nice dinner on the beach with a sea food set menu, not bad at all.
1st march
Today wehired a driver for550000rb for 8 hours, thats 300kr!!! We headed north towards Udbud to see the volcano Gunungagung it last erupted in 1963 as you probably can see in the pictures we had a quick bite over looking the volcano and lake. Along the way we stopped off to see locals making handmade gold and silver jellery now that's patience!!
Next stop was a local grow house for Balinese coffee chocolate and teas. We saw how they roast and grind their coffee, all by hand, had a few samples too very nice flavours. Some of the scenery was amazing so green and full of rice fields, rural part is so much nicer not so dirty.
We visited one of the temples in Udbud beautiful but boring..
Next stop was the Hotel to get a good nights rest.
2nd March
As Bali was our delayed honey moon we basically just relaxed by the pool til the 4th,was so good especially after 3 weeks on the move in NZ.
