Hello again! Well there are a few things to know about my DTS. Originally we are stationed on an old Japanese boat that had been converted into a home called the Pacific Link, which is used as a moving medical facility around the islands. This year there have been a lot of answered prayers for the base here and they are going through some changes. They will be giving the Pacific Link over to the Australian base of Marine Reach at the end of this week, and so we will have to move out. We will be staying at a place called Gideon's Fields. It is still in Tauranga, but away from the city life and a little more in the mountains. They have been building a base there for the last several months, and we hope to be the first to live in the new and amazing base that has long been a dream of the people here.
There is a lot of culture to observe here, with the mix of people in our DTS being from all over the world, to the local and native peoples. YWAM has been celebrating it's 50 year anniversary and we were part of a large conference called Jubilee. At the opening ceremonies we were allowed to see the native tribe of the Maori people perform a "haka" to welcome the different visitors onto their land. The haka is an amazing show of strength and power from the Maori people, and I really suggest you look it up to see what I am talking about. It's actually kind of scary! And the war cries are amazing!
Well I've run into a bit of a problem uploading pictures and video because I don't have the application from my camera, and I just borrow friends computers so... not sure how to get around that yet. I'm working on it! When I get it all settled you can see how dark I've gotten, because it's summer here and my winter look is almost completely gone!
Love, love!
