Saw some spectacular scenery on our way down the West Coast. Very rugged and wild coastline; especially around the crazy Pancake Rocks and Blowholes and Panakaiki. The crashing waves seemed to spray everywhere and even created rainbows in the sunlight.
Were thrown off the bus in Greymouth with half an hour and the theme of 'P' to scrape together an outfit for tonight's fancy dress party. Our outlets were: a tiny charity shop run by two old ladies, a a shop called 'Toyworld', a $2 store and a very big, very red, very cheap, very tacky building called 'The Warehouse'. The owners of these shops must remain slightly confused by the daily influx of backpackers with a deranged glint in their eyes. The charity shop looked as though a bomb had hit it by the time we left. I manage to salvage a large, plastic ball and chain and a pair of handcuffs amidst the carnage, but had trouble finding any prisoner's pyjamas.
Much eyeliner was applied to everything except the eyes...Lucy did me proud with her tattoo art. Hilarious and outrageously drunken time was had by all. Popeye, the Present, Ponchus Pilot and even a Period; can you believe. I'm scarred for life.
Went to the beach at 4am and ended up in the sea because we couldn't see where it was.
