Our trip to Amsterdam started off way too early in the morning. Our flight left at 6 am so we had to get up way too early. Once we arrived in Amsterdam we took a taxi to our hostel and got ripped off. We were too out of it to realize we were paying too much until later on. We were so worn out that we decided to pass out for most of the day and then explored the city a little bit.
Over the next few days we relaxed and saw some of the sights around the city. We made it to the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh Museum. Both were really awesome to see. The Anne Frank House was very moving; I can't believe the terror she had to endure. We also walked through the Red Light District. We were just walking along not looking for it and all of a sudden there were scantily dressed women standing in the windows. It was a very surreal area…so weird.
The city itself was really cute with all the canals, restaurants and coffee shops. There is not very much to do or see in the city of Amsterdam so we decided to take a day trip out to the countryside. We went to a cheese farm for some cheese tastings. We also saw a windmill town, bayside town and a wooden clog factory. It was really nice to see the countryside of the Netherlands. I didn't realize all the canals that they had built throughout the entire country. Overall the trip was really relaxing but it was a lot different than I expected.
Ciao!
