MEL AND ZOE ON THE MOVE
Ok, this is our first journal entry. As you well know we are in Hong Kong and so far we have found a hostel, the joke already is that its a converted prison rather that specially made rooms!! On arrival we met James Hill zoe\\\'s brother who already seemed to know a lot about Hong Kong without ever being here, and he had with him a trusty Lonely Planet.
On the first night we dumped our bags and headed accross from Kowloon (where we are staying) on the Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island, the CBD, and up the Peak on the tram where we were spoiled by the view of the whole of Hong Kong, and the light show put on by the many skyscrapers. We treated ourselves to a rather pricey meal at the top of the mountain, seeing as it was our first night!! (Donations very welcome lol!!!)
We then headed back to the hostel/prison and crashed out, which was rather easy seeing as we didnt have any windows letting the noise in from outside.
On Monday we again went accross to the Island and went up the tallest building in Hong Kong....it goes without saying that the views are fantastic! We spent the afternoon shopping after lunch that is; we found a very traditional restaurant on the mid-levels where the locals eat and had chinese curry. If you are after electrical goods Hong Kong is the place to come as we soon found out when i was after a memory card and reader for my camera so i can put pictures on this site!
Tonight we are meeting up with Stuart and his family, i think we worked out that we are third cousins, and i believe we are going to experience the horse races in Happy Valley and tomorrow going to experience HK country life in Sai Kung which will be a welcome contrast to the hustle and bustle of the city, which as it happens never seems to die down.
We fly to New Zealand via Brisbane on friday, we have a 7 hour wait at Brisbane airport for our connecting flight, but I\\\'m sure we will find a nice bar and be just fine!!
Will update you further when we get the chance.
