Hi everyone
I haven't stopped since I came to the south island. Here is a little summary of what I have been up to:
I got ferry from Wellington over to Picton and then headed to a place called Nelson which is near to the Abel Tasman National Park. I did Kayaking around the park which was really good as the weather was good. I also walked up to the centrepoint of New Zealand.
I also went to Westport which is supposedly the home of the mullets but I didn't see anyone. Then it was on to Lake Mahinapua where we had the P Party which is in my photos. I dressed up as a PE teacher which was the best I could think of!!! The hostel was owned by a 70 year old who was a bit crazy and the hostel was horrible which is why they probably held a party so everyone would get drunk and not realise how bad the hostel was.
Then it was on to Franz Josef for my full day glacier hike which was an amazing way to spend my birthday, at times we had to squeeze our way through tiny crevasses in the ice! It was quite cold and by the end we were soaking and ready for a drink :0)
Then on to Wanaka where I spent a few extra days as it was such a pretty place. I went for a walk with my friend and it turned into a 3 ½ hour trek, on which we managed to find a dog. We didn't have the energy to walk back so we hitch hiked (and had to leave to dog behind unfortunately as it was hampering our chances of getting a lift!)
After Wanaka we then went to puzzle world which was a bit random but quite funny and then it was Queenstown. The town is a big ski town so it is getting really busy on the run up to the ski season starting here. It rained all the time i was there but we all played a game of frisby golf (I was rubbish!) and then I did my canyon swings yesterday which were petrifying. I have never been so scared in my life. On jumping, you freefall 60m above the canyon and then fall a following 50m before swinging 200m across the canyon. Just to make sure it was frightening I did it twice. I have got the DVD's to bore you all with on my return!!! As a reward we all went out and went to the world bar where they serve cocktails in teapots – see my photos!!! As you can imagine I got a bit drunk and did not welcome the 6.30 start this morning to take me to Milford Sound. Milford was beautiful but I was a bit sea sick on the boat. Anyway, I am heading back to Queenstown tomorrow for a couple of days, then christchurch, kaikoura and then back to wellington. Speak soon. xxx
