Auckland - Bay of Islands
Apologies updates have been a bit non exsistent since I have got to New Zealand - it has been fairly action packed and I have not really had a chance to sit down in an internet cafe for a while! I did not get much sleep my second night in Auckland as it was "Big Day Out" in Auckland which is a massive music festival over NZ and Oz! (which if I had known was on I would have gone to) so the girls in my hostel rolled in around 3am and then came and went loudly for the until finally going to bed at 5am! But hey thats what hostels are about.
Anyway the next morning I joined up with a tour that does the North and then South Island over 15 days. It was a bit odd at first as there was about 13 of us joing a tour that had only 2 days left, so people already had friendship groups established... I was not too fussed though as I just fell asleep on the bus! We travelled from Auckland up to the Bay of Islands. This is about a 4 hour drive! I thought the views on the way up were nice but when we eventually got into the Bay of Islands it was gorgeous! I booked on to do a trip the next day that takes you all the way to the top of the North Island called Cape Regina - where you got to drive along 90 mile beach and do sand boarding.
We had a group meal at our accomodation then most of us went out to the local bars... I hadn't got drunk properly since Byron Bay so was up for a big night out! Which it was! Our tour guide Nick paid for most of our drinks so I was very very drunk and I rolled into bed at 3.30am!
Unfortunately my Cape Reigna Awesome Adventures trip was a 7.25am pick up which needless to say I did not make. I slept in until 11am... dragged myself on a walk which was very pretty and then cooked myself a big lunch! I spent the rest of the afternoon in bed sleeping off my hangover.
Tonight was the people who had been on the tour doing South - Norths last night so they all w***ed off together - which was good as I got to meet people who I will be travelling with. Quite a few of the people are English, the rest are Australian and there is 2 Austrians and 2 Dutch! Everyone seems really nice and am looking forward to travelling NZ with them.
