Melissa's & Gemma's Travels
We have been in Melbourne for a day so far, and have not seen much as the 15 hour bus journel really took it out of us! We did go to 'Neighbours Night' last night to meet some of the cast. We saw Boyde, Janelle and Max! Sorry no Harold Bishop so was gutted about that, and sorry Jason no jelly belly.
It was fun and we have got our photo with them all! A very good night, but they did like to hype it up and left us standing around for hours. Still they are 'stars' after all!
Anyway we where in Sydney before we arrived in Melbourne for 5 days. It is a beautiful city as you can see from the pics. The Harbour is just the best place to be, there is a great vibe.
On our 1st day we walked over the Sydney Harbour Bridge which was good, but a lot further than we thought. It was nice when we got to the other side though, as we had some amazing views of the city and the Opera House. We decide to have an early dinner by the harbour, and we where sipping wine at 4.30 in the afternoon. We had a lovely steak which was cheap as well only about 7 pounds! Bonus! It was lovely to see the sun set behing the bridge and it became a whole different place.
On our 2nd day we went to Featherdale Wildlife Park which was great. We saw and stroaked a Koala, and we had Kagaroo's eating out of our hands. I can't belive how close they got! You just had Kangaroo and Emu just walking around the whole place. In the evening we went on a Bar crawl (Route 69) for the England match. We had a great evening suppoting our country! Come on England.
It is great being away, as I am suddenly so into the footie ( oh my god, can you beleive it Jason)? Even Gem has been well into it.
On our other days we went to the Harbour and where entertained by some circus acts. ! guy was juggling with a CHAIN SAW! Madness, but very fun. We went to the Botanical Gardens which where really nice, it wierd that you can be in a park, and then there is a huge skyscraper behind!
We went to the Famous Bondi beach which was also beautiful. Unfortunatly being winter it wasn't quite the surfer's paridise but there was still some in the water. Definatly a place to be in summer though, so there is always another time eh?!
We are going to explore a little more of Melbourne today, but is very hard as all the cities seem to have the same things Museums, Aquariams, Zoo's and shops! Still we will go and find some arty places, as Melbourne is like Sydney but so much more chilled out. Drinking coffee in some little cafe watching the world go by!
Hope everyone is well, and enjoying the gorgeous weather you have been having.
Love to all,
Mel
