Melissa's & Gemma's Travels
Well since I last wrote we haven't been up to much other than sitting on a train! Booooo!
We caught the Indian Pacific on Wednesday at 11, and travelled until this morning ( Friday) in Adelaide at 7am! Now when we got off we were a little bit grumpy, as we don't think we have ever expereinced such an uncomfortable journey! Still we were happy to be on ground again.
We did have 2 stops along the way. We stopped at a town called Kalgoorie at 10pm at night so not much was open apart from pubs! Well we couldn't sit in the middle of no where so dragged ourselves into a pub! he he Much to say we had 3 1/2 hours to kill and thought we would get chuked out of the pubs, but ended up having a really good time! We met some local guys who where buying rounds of drinks! Bonus! Oh and you lads will be glad to hear we ended up in a topless bar as it was a mining town so the guys were all perves!!!! There were many ladies dressed in nesxt to nothing, with just stars covering their nipples!!! aparently it is a Western Australia custom! Book your flights now!
Anyway the local guys had worked up a Ayres Rock for a couple of years, so gave us advice where to etc. So me and Gem have now decided to bite the bullet and take the trip to see the rock at sunset and sunrise, it is meant to be amazing.
The other town we stopped off at was called Cook! Now heres a place for you! there must have been a population of 4 in total. It is one of those places in the movies, that you get stuck at and never get out alive! thankfully we only had 45mins there!
Today we just went to the city in Adelaide. We haven't doen anything touristy, but we have all day tomorrow. Adelaide is called the city of churches (just the place for me and Gem eh? )! But we will go and see it all the same.
We have now planned to go to Urulu on Tuesday and guess how.................... the bloody train! Still it was the cheapest option, and this time we will go prepared with sleeping bags, food, and some books! We will be doing a 3 day trip of Ayres Rock etc, and then will will make our way back to Adelaide to catch yet another bloody rtain to Sydney!
You will all be plaesed to know that the weather in adelaide is a little on the cool side, but we cannot wait to get to Cairns where we will mealt!
Love to all,
Mel
