We arrived in the national p[ark just after lunch and after a quick shower and a change into the swimming shorts we headed to tubing where we sat in rubber dingies and went down the river in the park with a few beers in our hands which is exactly the relaxing things we needed to do to be honest after the previous nights in bangkok.
In the evening that evening we just relaxed in the bar with a couple of beers before heading for an early night and late get up. Although we were slightly disturbed by the bat which flew into the cabin - good job i had the rabies jab again they seem to be after me (or my blood)
The next day we set of on a tour of the lake in the national park which reminded me a lot of halong bay - although the weather was not as exciting - it was cloudy - how dare it!!!! We went kayaking for a hour which was quality as the lake was a beautiful green and blue colour - i will soon be qualifying for the UK Kayaking team after the amount i have done - 2012 here i come!!
When we returned for lunch from the kayaking the heavens opened so we were soooo lucky!! The restaurant was a floating restuarant in the middle of the lake which was amazing. You could even stay in floating cabins too which would be really cool albeit very basic. In the afternoon we saw some wild monkeys which were cool and we also went to a cave where you guessed it i saw some bats!!! The cave was so slippery and we had 2/3 torches between 8/9 of us it was almost the most dangerous things i have done in Thailand - who are clearly not health and safety concious.
In the evening at 9pm we wnet on what was an amazing night "safari" and i say "safari" as it was more like a heavy trek which we were all not expecting after a long day trip. Amazingly we saw loads of interesting creatures and wildlife including - poisonous snakes, tree frogs, gibbons, rats (wow i hear you say) and Thailands biggest flower which blooms for only 2 months a year and we were luckily there in that period. If i was brutally honest the flower kinda looked like a pile of poo. Phils quote of the trek was why can't they put this flower in a pot plant at home instead of the jungle after falling in the mud.
Because of the rain the trekking was really dangerous even more so than the cave. We got back to the hotel at 1am completely shattered and we knew we had to leave at 7.30 to go to Ko Samui the next day so we were going to be cranky in the morning.
It is a shame we can't stay here longer as it is a beuatiful place and i would have liked to have spent a day trekking in the national park some more.
By the way the new people on the tour seem pretty good so far including a few from Manchester (even a financial recruiter - you just can't get away from them) and a canadian guy who can only be discribed as forest gump and he even managed to fall off a waterfall today.
