A short blog from Bangkok.
I met up with Phil last night and we just went out for a beer to relax, but did not stay out too long as Phil was feeling a little jet lagged -not suprising really. The hotel we are staying in are doing some renovations and were still using a drill at 1am - what a liability!!??
In the morning we had a walk to the "big budda" then we jumped on a tuk tuk and went to another temple, the grand palace and Wat Pho. The last two were amazing and by far the best places i have visited in Bangkok. Unfortunately as part of each tuk tuk ride you have to go to 2 silk shops and a tourist places - the drivers get commissions and this where they earn all there money - it gets annoying but you have to play the game.
I managed to pick up and sen back my suits i got made here too - i tyhink i have a complete new wardrobe now lol.
In the evening we met up with the rest of the group for the next trip and everyone seems ok at first glance which is good. There are a couple of people who will struggle on the trek as they don't look the fittest.
The next day in Bangkok we had a trip on the canals around bangkok and visited the temple of dawn which was cool. In the evening we went to Chang Mai on the night train which is 14 hours.
To pass the time on the train we got some local whiskey and coke (its more like rum actually but never mind) and we had a good session getting to know each other in the group which was good actually. When the whiskey had done its job i passed out and slept for a good 6 hours which is pretty good on these trains.
I will write another blog for Chang Mai wheni get back from the 3 day trek.
