We arrived in port mac at 2am and got to the hostel to find the guy had only left one bed for the 2 of us so that was interesting! As much as we are used to each others company now we didnt think it would be to handy for us to share a top bunk in a 6 bed dorm!! Luckily we accosted a nice german boy who was randomly up and had a 4bed dorm to himself and he let us share for the night. Tony apologised and let us stay and have the same room to ourselves the next night so that was all good!
Port mac is nice, small beachy town which showed us a bit more of australia than the big cities. We walked through a national park for the morning and attempt to spot some widlife and failed. In the afternoon we went on a cruise around the river which attempted apprently to dolphin spot, but we only saw lots of birds and some kangaroos and lots of oysters!
The next day the weather deteriorated AGAIN and it was pretty windy, tony the guy at the hostel said it was bizarre weather for that time of year clearly we were being followed by the horrible english weather!! So being english we decided to walk along all of the beaches whilst being attacked by the winds! In the afternoon we visited a koala hospital which was really sad but they were so cute! The main reasons the koalas were there were dog attacks, car accidents or "chlamydia" which is popular koalas apprently and also a few were hurt in bush fires, but the hospital took them in and looked after them until they were fully recovered.
The friday we chilled out the hostel before getting the greyhound for the 7 hour journey to byron bay!
