The last two days have been an absolute whirl wind. I have seen so much of London and as a result I can barley feel my legs and feet hehe but I wouldn't change it for anything.
Yesterday I woke up really early, enjoyed my complimentary English breakfast and then hit the town. I bought a ticket for the hop on hop off bus tour. This is a great way to see the famous sights of London. It was a little drizzly but it didn't stop me from sitting upstairs. I 'hopped off' at Buckingham Palace to watch the 'Changing of the Guards'. I had front row seats, I couldn't believe how close I was to all of the action. I had no idea of how much effort goes into the changing of the guards. It was fantastic to watch. I then got back on the bus and toured the rest of London, stopping at Oxford Street to do a little bit of shopping. I later met up with Caitlyn for an early dinner and drinks. It was so good to see her and hear all of her funny stories.
Today, I also got up early and made my way to Abbey Road. This was really important to me because my dad is such a big fan of The Beatles and brought my sister and I up listening to their music. There were so many people there but I managed to ask a couple to take my photo (that's what I have to do most of the time lol). I then caught the tube to Leicester Square to have a look around.
I booked a walking tour based on the Old City of London. It was really interesting and I went to sights that I probably wouldn't have seen if I didn't go along. We saw the Monument, St Paul's Cathedral, Tower of London, London bank and many more historical buildings. I then jumped on to another walking tour based on Jack the Ripper. This was something that I had wanted to do as we had learnt about it in high school. It was interesting, however the tour guide left us in the back alleys of London at the end and I had a lot of trouble finding my way back to the hotel. It took me nearly 2 hours to get home in the dark. I'm not going to lie, I was a little scared being alone and lost.
Tomorrow I start my Top Deck tour. We are heading to Amsterdam. I am very nervous but excited to continue my adventure.
I will miss catching the tube to Charing Cross each day. I am an expert on the Underground now!
