Berlin is a very interesting place. It's overwhelming to think that this is one of the places where Hitlers regime actually took place. Not many people speak English here so it's a lot harder to get around in comparison to the other places I have visited so far.
We arrived in Berlin at night and settled into out hostel, which is rather nice and very hygienic. I am happy with this accommodation except for the loud night club across the road. I am sharing with 3 other girls who are really lovely. We went down to the restaurant for dinner and had chicken schnitzel and apple strudel. We ended up having a really fun night and walked along the Wast side Gallery of the Berlin Wall drinking a beer (which is legal lol). The art work on the wall is mind blowing. Each section tells a different story and can be interpreted differently depending on the individual.
My new friend Georgia, who loses everything, has taken an interest in the bar attendant at our hostel. It will be interesting to see how that unfolds over our stay.
Today we began the day with a walking tour through the town. Our tour guide was very informative and gave us a lot of historical information at each stop. We main places we visited were the Holocaust memorial, Hitlers Bunker (where he committed suicide) and Check Point Charlie. We even got to see the building where Michael Jackson held his son Blanket out of the hotel window. After that, some of us visited the Topography of Horrors museum which displayed hundreds of images of the treatment if Jews during the Nazi Regime. It was very sad.
Tonight we are going in a pub crawl and out to a night club.
