We'd been recommended the 'Parque das Aves' by the people at our hostel. They even went as far as saying they preferred it over the waterfalls. The park is set within a rainforest making the enclosures feel very natural. We'd already seen a toucan in the wild but the walk in enclosures were massive and full of so many different birds. Some would even come up and sit next to you allowing for some amazing pictures.
It wasn't just birds though, giant snakes, iguanas and huge colourful butterflies were also present. Briony also had the fortune of seeing a couple of Capybaras roaming the park, these are one of the worlds largest rodents.
The day was finished in the excellent restaurant enjoying a very strong caipirinha, the local Brazilian drink. The park was a great change of pace and a nice break between visiting the waterfalls, more of which we would see the following day.
