It was only a short hop across the border and we were in Brazil! We'd put some serious miles behind us and it felt good to add a new country to our list. The main reason we were here was to see the waterfalls which can be accessed from both Argentina and Brazil. We chose Foz de Iguacu on the Brazilian side for the better range of accommodation. The hostel not only features a pool, but eggs for breakfast, a first for the trip which greatly pleased Briony who had been stuck with dry crackers for nearly a month!
The waterfalls didn't disappoint with their shear size and ferocity having us both in awe. With each new turn of the trail bringing our jaws closer to the floor. Our first experience of the falls was via a very wet power boat ride, as waterfalls appeared from around the corner the boat carved through the white water, which lead to more than a few shrieks from Briony. It was a great way of experiencing the force and magnitude of the water, the boat literally reversed us into the falls. We were all soaked to the skin and very grateful for our waterproof technology.

This was followed by a more serene walk on dry land, that culminated in us walking along a gantry mere metres from the falls. Soaked for the second time in the day but with massive smiles on our faces!
