Hey everyone! A quick update!
This past week I have been up to quite a bit...The first few days were orientation, I went to Mokolodi Nature Reserve and went on a safari. I saw elepaphants, girafes, wildebeasts, zebras, warthogs and even a dung beetle!!! I moved to Mochudi on Wed. Im living with an older woman and her maid(which is quite common here). I have a HUGE dog named Taxi who is great for protection!! I need to take the combi(packed out mini bus) that sits 15 ppl to get to work each day! I have had one day at work so far which involved playing a sweaty game of dodgeball and being bombarded by all the kids wanting to hear about Canada and talk to me!
Im looking forward to tutoring the kids, working on a proramm to bring the elderly/ aunts and uncles together to discuss struggles they have raising orphaned/vulnerable youth, planning income generating activities for the kids, and even teach the girls how to sew!! There is even a pool at the university and i may have the opps to teach lessons to the kids and aqua fit!! wooo hooo Im tottaly pumped!
The organization really needs money to provide more opportunites and training for these kids! If you wish to donate you can give money to my parents and they will send it to me. there is soo much that Stepping Stones wants to do. (its all non profit) and its is the only after school program of its kind in Botswana!
ANyways thats my blurb for now! Im adjusting well and so excited to contribute with all my ideas!!
